Part 4: Taking Action in the Pursuit of Sustainability
Part 4 of the course turns from analysis to action. Having examined in Part 3 the capacities that societies need in order to pursue sustainability, we ask here what individual actors can actually do. We focus on: i) envisioning sustainable futures; ii) identifying leverage points, choosing policy instruments, and writing policy analysis in ways that decision-makers can act on; and iii) leading with the empathy, systems thinking, adaptiveness, and patient persistence that have proven especially effective at achieving progress on the ground, and mobilizing others to act.
