Laurence L Delina is an independent international consultant on energy and development. Prior to his post as consultant at the Energy Security Section of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok, he was a research intern at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies in Japan. For more than five years, he was a development banker at Land Bank of the Philippines. Mr. Delina holds an MA in development studies from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and a master's in public administration and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Mindanao State University in General Santos City, the Philippines. He is building his research portfolio in the fields of energy and development, international development finance, institutional development and governance, and climate change mitigation. He has co-authored a United Nations publication on institutional arrangements of energy efficiency institutions in Asia, authored a book section on the political, social and economic aspects of climate change, written Op-eds on sustainable energy for Japan Today and Cleantechasia Online, and presented in a number of international conferences.
