I work a Senior Researcher at the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources in Sudan. I was a leader of a research project under AIACC Initiative entitled: Environmental Strategies for Increasing Human Resilience to Climate Change Impacts   in Sudan, lessons for Northern and Eastern Africa.  My work focuses on the development of climate change adaptation research strategies for drought-prone regions in Sudan and Africa. In the past eight years, I have provided consultancy services for a range of organisations, including IGAD, UNEP, UNFCCC, GEF and World Bank. I   authored the paper on One System Inventory, Environmental Baseline of the Eastern Nile- /Multipurpose Program Development/ Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO)- Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) /World Bank/UNDP. Currently I act as the Vice Chair, Advisory Board Climate Change Adaptation in Africa Research and Capacity Development Programme (CCAA) by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, and the Department for International Development (DFID), U.K.  Moreover, I am a lead author for the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) - Working Group II (WGII) on Climate Change: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability./Chapter 9: Assessment of Future Impacts and Adaptation: Africa Region. I am also a lead author for the IPCC NGGIP 2006 IPCC National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Guidelines /Energy Sector, as well as Coordinating lead author for the IPCC Report on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage /Chapter 9 Implications on GHG Inventory. I was a member of the team of experts who drafted the regional strategy for improving the Global Climate Observing Systems (GCOS) for Eastern and Southern Africa, and is a Coordinating Lead Author on the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) Global Assessment report Chapter 1. Recently I lead authored a Background paper on Impact, Vulnerability and Adaptation in Africa for the African Regional Workshop on Adaptation.-Accra/Ghana, 21st.-23rd. September, 2006.

I hold a PhD in forestry Science, Master in Environmental Science and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Honour in Forestry and Agricultural Science.
